If your'e thinking about buying Elephant Garlic Bulbs for planting, consider this one. A very prolific strain of Elephant Garlic propagated by my dad over 60 years ago. Our Elephant Garlic was originally planted by my dad in the late 1950's in Ohio. It is still producing the same great flavorful Elephant Garlic today. We are grateful for such a hardy strain of Elephant Garlic that has been passed down through four generations. This exceptional garlic is still as wonderful as I remember it when I was a child. It has been through floods, droughts, weeks of below zero temperatures, record highs and record lows and never failed us. The Elephant seed bulbs we sell are a direct descendent of the original Elephant Garlic bulbs dad got in 1958.
It starts out mild, and the flavor becomes a little stronger as it cures. This particular Elephant Garlic is a wonderful keeper when stored properly. Many times it has been kept over a year and was still usable.
Our large size heads are approximately 4-5 heads per pound. If you want Elephant Garlic cloves for planting, these will give you the largest planting cloves. Our culinary size is about 6-8 heads per pound. If you plant the largest cloves from the head of garlic of either size and give it good care you can grow large to jumbo garlic.
We have a limited supply of Jumbo Elephant Garlic for sale this year.
All of our Garlic can be planted as seed garlic or eaten.
